Visit to Belgium and France

Over the weekend of 26th - 29th September 2014, the band visited Belgium and France. This was to honour 19 men of Banks village who fell in the Great War 1914-18, who are named on the war memorial in St Stephen's churchyard.
In total 60 players and supporters took part. First we travelled to France to play at the Thiepval Memorial and Doullens Communal Cemetery, performing a short ceremony at each to commemorate the fallen. We then travelled to Belgium where we played at the Saturday evening Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, in Ypres, along side the Band Of The Irish Guards. On Sunday we played at Solferino Farm, Artillery Wood, Dunhallow and Dickebusche cemeteries, again performing a short ceremony at each to commemorate the soldiers from Banks.

We are planning to return to Belgium in 2018.
